08:42 pm - not much to report.
Still in a nursing home. Oxygen levels. Don't talk to me about oxygen levels. They're too depressing.

Still no Wifi here. Dependent on a cell phone for it.

09:33 pm - if it's Monday.....
I had not even realized it.

Today's toss between a good and a bad day.

Xanax either chose not to work this morning, or there is more than anxiety at work here, each time they try to reduce my oxygen intake. I thought they were supposed to make dying patients comfortable.

Tbey did turn it back up, finally, when someone got respiration back finally, after Ghu knows how long. I spent an awful long time feeling as though I could barely breathe.

09:22 am - Sample The Volunteer before The Volunteer Samples you!
Originally posted by peadarog. Reposted by snapes_angel at 2014-05-26 09:22:00.

For anybody eagerly waiting, or even, lethargically waiting, for the release of The Volunteer on 12 June 2014, what follows will come as a public service announcement. For everybody else, it might resemble one of the more virulent forms of spam. My apologies if you belong to the latter group.

But for everybody else -- and I know I'm speaking to the vast majority of the world's population -- a very massive and extremely free sample of the novel (20%) is waiting for your downloading pleasure here. Read it on your kindle or epub reader, on your PC screen... or print it out so that you can have your way with it out of sight of judging eyes.

03:36 pm - sick is no fun
Tylenol and Maalox helped, a little, as did a boost in the bed. I really do not feel well today. For the last few days, really.

And I cannot see what I type. Ah, tbe joys of the Kindjle Fires.

01:48 pm - SAVING MARS FREE TODAY (Kindle Edition)
Ohfb.com listed it today and I checked. Still free. As mentioned in. jimhines's journal, a science fiction book with an autistic character in a major supporting role.

Not to mention, it is a good book. Yes, YA. I think it's good for any age, but what the hey, right?

ohfb stands for One Hundred Free Books. I found them via Facebook,  Kindle format.

01:10 pm - What Is Up With LJ Today?
I have no clue. This is sent via GMail, because I get a blank screen, each
time I try to access the site to respond to comments or see new posts.

I know it is not something I've said. My first thought ran to, what do they
call it, a DDOS or something, since this usually happens with one in that
situation.

Ah, well. Maybe I will grab a nap, and try again later.

05:11 am - I HAD A LOOK AT THE NEW LIVEJOURNAL LAYOUT.
It is HORRIBLE! I suppose it is just as well that I am dying.  It will save time on my hunt for a new blog space. Well, I have already done that, being a blogoholic, and all. Still. Faced with such a hideous conversion..... Blah. Yet another devolution.

12:40 pm - CLINICAL TRIALS AND PAPER TRAILS
More information as it becomes available, and there are no guarantees, but Doctor Shaikh is putting me in touch with someone regarding clinical trials. Hey, it may not be lung replacement, but you never know, it could help me. And my being part of such a study has the potential to help someone like me, down the line.

03:10 pm - more on the war on steroids
Lovely.

I have felt a difference in my breathing. I now have pinpointed it. The doctor has decreased me from 40to 30prednisone. We are trying to reduce that pesky white blood cell count.

So, we wil wait for it to cstch up with itself.

08:58 pm - the Brigh & The Dark Side
Bright side is, I have a home health aidewho will stick with me for the long h as ul. Her name is Tricia, and she isa terrific lady w ho is even checking in on my cat almost daily, while I amin here.

Yes,in a nursing home, for rehab, only now it seems i need to worrymore about myheart rate than my oxygen saturation, though the latter is stilla veryreal andimmediate concern.

I havereceived my second rejection from thelung transplant program. Third time's the charm, though, right? I get to try again in June. Hopefuly,, i will have the colonoscopy and dentist out oftheway bythen. I think thoseweretgelast twoholdouts.

04:49 pm - Potential Blurb for The Volunteer
Originally posted by peadarog. Reposted by snapes_angel at 2014-03-21 16:49:00.

Well, I got great joy from my LJ buddies when I was test-driving the blurb for my mini-collection Forever in the Memory of God and Other Stories. Many thanks, peeps, but since you've given me an inch, I'm taking the mile to which I'm entitled!

What follows is a test blurb for my forthcoming book, The Volunteer. Be warned! The blurb has a few spoilers for anyone who has yet to read The Inferior. You should be fine if you haven't read The Deserter, though.

Suggestions are welcome. There's still time!

I'm going to apologize for not keeping up for a while, but I am in serious pain right now. I have had it for a week and a half. The one doctor in the nursing home, before I left, said that my chest pains were caused by a small bruise on my back., Well, they're still there, despite the Tylenol he recommended. And all last week, I was a Columbia Presbyterian, with doctor's appointments, so no chance to rest and recover. Not this week either, since I have more doctor's appointments in Nassau County.

Ergo, my scareceness. Sorry.

That references my itinerary this afternoon. Need sleep / rest now. Chest pain keeps me awake. The resident doctor said it is caused by a bruise I have on my back, no clue how I got one there. I got about two hour's sleep, so far. It i sas well this happened before I go home on Friday. And withall my doct o rs in Nassau County now,and I live in Suffolk... Until they find a place for me, it might make future trips to the ER quite interesting.
